Professionals from Bokimonge Ward in Bomachoge Borabu sub-county and other parts of Kisii County have been challenged to give back to their former schools as part of appreciating and motivating teachers and students in those institutions.

Africa Nazarene University Kisii Campus Director, Dr Norah Nyamwamu has underscored the importance of former school boys and girls to use their current positions in the corporate, private and public sector to support their former schools achieve academic excellence as part of giving back to those schools and their communities.

Speaking at Endereti COG Mixed Secondary School, where she was a chief guest during a school's book donation event, Nyamwamu challenged formers students to visit their schools once in a while to motivate students in those institutions to perform better in their examinations and general academic work.

Nyamwamu observed that having former students visiting their former schools will not only add value to the images of those schools, but will also add value to the learners' academic and national examinations performance which will translate to improved academic standards in the local communities.

The educationist linked communities' economic performance and social welfare to the kind of education and level of literacy expressed by the community members.

"If you want to know how a village looks like, look at the number of children in school and those who have successfully completed their education," said Nyamwamu.
