Kiambu County governor’s wife Philomena Kabogo has raised concerns over high school dropouts in in the county due to inadequate resources to sustain children in the school.
Kabogo said that many children do not attend school due to lack of facilities and vigilance of parents and teachers in making sure their children go to school.
On the same note, she condemned teachers who do not attend classes leaving children to loiter around the school a behaviour which according to her, normally results to students escaping from school or indulging in other social vices.
“Teachers who sleep in their jobs and allow children to be mischievous should be vigilant in helping raise our young leaders,” said Kabogo.
Kabogo was speaking at St. Francis Primary School in Mang’u Gatundu North on Saturday when she presided over a library building initiative in the school.
She called on leaders to join hands in making sure that children in various Wards have attended school to reduce crime and save future generation from exposing themselves to high risks.
“Kiambu leaders should join hands in helping the children get quality education. I congratulate leaders who have introduced feeding programme in their constituency, that is a sign of good leadership,” she noted.
Kabogo urged leaders to concentrate on fulfilling their manifestos instead of engaging in cheap politics.
She revealed that plans are underway to build an education centre which will have a community library.
She has however encouraged children to attend classes and go an extra mile and develop a reading culture that will boost their education.
