Kisumu County Deputy Governor Ruth Odinga is now calling for dialogue in the wake of a fall out in the management of the county government.
Odinga said it is high time the county leaders sat down and soberly addressed challenges affecting the county.
She said constant wrangling in the county is hampering service delivery to the people of Kisumu. Odinga refuted reports that she called for the disbandment of the county government.
“I have never called for the dissolution of the county. Let the leadership of this county come together and iron out the emerging differences,” said Odinga.
Speaking to the press in Kisumu, the deputy governor however said that if the wrangling persists and leaders fail to agree then the leadership should step aside.
She criticised Governor Jack Ranguma for forging ahead with a retreat for the county government staff in Nairobi.
Odinga said the bonding retreat came at a time the governor relieved five county executive members without consulting her.
She said the governor ought to have filled the void and brought on board new Executive members before calling for a retreat.
“The retreat ought to have waited for things to cool down and the governor to appoint the new Executive members,” claimed Odinga.
The retreat was cancelled at the eleventh hour a fortnight ago after Odinga protested that it was not a priority at a time the county was facing financial constraints.
However, the retreat was organised last week and boycotted by the deputy governor and a number of Ward Representatives.
