Nakuru County Lands Executive Rachael Maina now wants Biashara Ward MCA Stephen Kuria, to provide evidence of people with fake title deeds from the National Lands Commission.
Speaking on Tuesday morning at her office while reacting to allegations made by the MCA on Monday about people occupying land with fake title deeds, CeC Maina said that the issue is sensitive and can only be investigated and handled by the National Lands Commission which is mandated by the law to deal with issuance and revocation of title deeds.
While acknowledging cases of land grabbing and illegal allocation of land by county government officials, Maina said that her office is investigating the matter and will hand its report to both the County Assembly and the Lands Commission once investigations are completed.
“The issue of title deeds can only be handled by the Lands Commission and therefore I want to call upon the MCA who made the allegations of fake title deeds to furnish NLC with the details about the alleged fake title deeds so that action can be taken,” said Maina adding that they are investigating the illegal allocations acquisitions of parcels of public land by county government officials and the report will be made public once investigations are concluded.
At a press briefing in Nakuru town on Monday, MCA Kuria alleged that individuals in Nakuru town had been allocated public land and issued with fake title deeds.
