Kwale Women Representative Zainab Chidzuga has criticized National Super Alliance (NASA) leaders accusing them of disrespecting independent constitutional commissions and offices.
Speaking in Kwale on Sunday, the Women Representative accused NASA of interfering with the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC).
Chidzuga alleged that NASA wants to control the electoral commission ahead of the August polls.
“NASA leaders must learn to respect independent constitutional commissions and give them space to deliver on their mandate,” she said, as quoted by the Standard.
Chidzuga said they will not allow NASA to poke holes into IEBC affairs, saying that the electoral agency must be allowed to conduct free and fair polls.
She claimed that NASA has sensed defeat in the August 8 general election and wants to interfere with IEBC’s operations.
The Kwale MP urged IEBC to stand firm and protect its independence, adding that the August 8 polls will not be fair if NASA continues interfering with the commission.
She urged politicians to keep off IEBC and allow the Wafula Chebukati-led commission to deliver credible polls.
