Odhiambo said that most political equations have left the sub-county in what she termed as ‘political cold’.

Speaking to the press at the county assembly premises on Thursday, Odhiambo who hails from Nyakach Constituency argued that the area is among the leading voters' block and cannot be undermined.

"Kisumu has three major voters' blocks namely; Nyando, Seme and Nyakach. These are also native Kisumu residents who cannot be ignored when making any political deal about the county's leadership come 2017 general elections," said Odhiambo.

She argued that the race for governor is between Nyando and Seme sub-counties with Nyando fronting the incumbent Jack Ranguma and Kisumu businessman Dr Hezron Makobewa. Seme is allegedly fronting Senator Anyang Nyong’o.

She added that the equations are to ensure that Deputy Governor Ruth Odinga remains in her position come the next general election.

Ruth Odinga is the younger sister to Cord leader Raila Odinga and is said to be a favourable choice for most gubernatorial aspirants.

"Let the position of deputy governor or women representative go to Nyakach Sub-County for a well-balanced county leadership. The position of majority leader can be given to Muhoroni Sub-County," she said.
