Ongwae has been facing torrid moments in handling nine MPs from his backyard who have shown open rebellion throughout his tenure in office.

Speaking during donation of chicks at Nyoera village on Thursday to Kisii Women Agribusiness Sacco, Ong’era faulted the attitude of her colleagues to Governor Ongwae.

“I think Ongwae is doing his best to improve the economy of our county. I would like to challenge my colleagues, MPs to give him humble time to deliver on his mandate,” Ong’era said.

“If they want good development relationship with him, I think they have to change their attitude. The governor has done well in infrastructure, health, agriculture and many more areas because those are things we see daily when traversing the county. I don’t see the reason why they hit him so hard,” she added.

The ODM Senator defended Governor Ongwae’s political inclination terming it ‘his political right’ and urged the MPs to rise above party politics.

“I occasionally hear many of them cannibalising him because of his close ties with opposition. He has a right to work with the party whose ideologies he deems best. Let us rise above petty party politics as leaders and work for the people,” she added also defending the governor from alleged clanism.

“Of course devolution is in its infantry stages and you can’t expect him to be perfect. It’s all about giving him time. I think he has done development equally without shortchanging any region or clan,” she said.
