Political and religious leaders in Naishi, Njoro on Monday urged the Parliament to amend the Constitution to give the President more powers.
The leaders who spoke in Ngano-ini Village during the burial of Moses Njuguna, Garissa University attack victim, said President's roles have been reduced to ceremonial.
"Something has to be done on the chain of command. Who gives orders that work when and where,” said Reverend Ezekiel Waweru
His sentiment was echoed by Rev Kamuri Muya of Talents Revival Church who urged law makers to amend the constitution to give the President more powers.
Lare Ward MCA Kabuu Wauthi wondered where the country is headed if President’s orders can be overturned.
“It is worrying trend that some institution are overturning President's orders,” said Kabuu.
The leaders now want the two House; Parliament and Senate to initiate and expedite a constitutional amendment.
