The country must start thinking of giving the Senate more powers to make it more relevant.
MidRift Human Rights network executive Director Joseph Omondi argues that, the senate in its current state is becoming a liability to the country.
According to Omondi, the Senate should be empowered if it is to effectively guard and protect devolution.
“The initial intention was to have the Senate as the upper house but when people went to Naivasha they watered down the document and denied Senate powers,” said Omondi.
“For Senate to function effectively and protect devolution we must start thinking of giving it more powers,” he added.
