As one way of creating job opportunities to the youths, the Kisii county government has been challenged to give tenders to youths in polytechnics.
According to the County polytechnic council chairman Jared Nyabosia, youths in the polytechnics are skilled hence they should be considered in terms of tenders in the county.
“Despite the challenges our polytechnics are facing in terms of finances and infrastructure, our students have been equipped with skills hence we advise the county to give them tenders," said Nyabosia.
In addition, he said that the county needs to understand that without their tenders the polytechnic will be facing many challenges since the function was being devolved to the county the governments.
“We don’t want our students to forget what they are supposed to do when they come out of school so to empower their skills we need to attach them somewhere for them to understand the market trends, therefore, we need tenders from the county government,” he added.
