Farmers in West Seme sub-county are now demanding back their money that they paid for the cultivation of their farms by the Kisumu County tractors.
Through their MCA Benter Ndeda, the farmers said they have waited for long for their farms to be prepared, yet the county has not kept their part of the deal.
Ndeda, who was speaking in the Kisumu assembly on Thursday said the farmers were asked to pay Sh1,500 each for the service, a promise that has not been fulfilled.
She said that the failure of the county to prepare their land for planting will lead to a shortage of food production, since many families depend on farming.
"They feel cheated and very angry at what the county has done to them, they want back their money since it was not used,” said Ndeda.
Majority leader Samwel Ongou on his part said he is not aware of the allegations and asked the MCA to compile a list of the farmers, indicating where they paid to for proper investigation of the matter.
He further suggested that the matter is weighty and must be addressed urgently.
