Speaking after the launch of a fertiliser firm in Ngeria, Uasin Gishu County, Ruto said that teachers should give the national government time to source for the amount saying that at the moment the government does not have the money.

"In this financial teachers salary increment was not budgeted for and it’s too much for the government to implement. Teachers should accept and come for discussion so that we may know how we will pay the increase without jeopardising other operations," he said.

He added that the government is not ignorant of the plight of teachers saying that all efforts are being taken to ensure teachers are better paid but urged them to be patient.

"Teachers should go back to class as we are sorting out their salaries issue since students are suffering when several of them will be sitting for their national examination they should have some mercy on our children if not the government," he added.
