Homa Bay Women Representative Glady’s Wanga has asked Mbita Member of Parliament Millie Odhiambo to apologise to her after Millie alleged she was interfering with Mbita electoral process ahead of the Monday ODM nominations in the region.
“I have learnt with extreme disappointment of an incident in Homa Bay town this morning where Mbita Member of Parliament Hon Millie Odhiambo dragged my name into extremely wild allegations that I am involved in some none existent ballot marking to influence upcoming nominations in the county as well as claims that I am involved with appointment of Returning Officers, a role that is exclusive to the ODM NEB;” Waga said in a statement, Friday.
“It is extremely irresponsible and reckless of elected leaders to make claims they cannot substantiate or table evidence for,” she added.
She further refuted having any interest in the primaries since she had already secured a direct ODM nomination ticket.
“As all ODM supporters know, I am not involved in any contest in the upcoming primaries, having secured a direct ticket because I have no opponent. I therefore have no interest in the contest other than to ensure it is free, fair, credible and transparent,” she noted.
“The Hon. MP for Mbita owes me and the entire Homa Bay County ODM leadership an apology unless she tables evidence to back her claims,” she said.
The ODM legislator added, “In the meantime, I urge ODM supporters in the County to remain calm and focussed on choosing their leaders on Monday. May the best candidates win.”
The two, Gladys and Millie, are staunch supporters of ODM party leader Raila Odinga
