The Kenya National Union of Nurses (KNUN) national chairman John Bii has told striking nurses to resume work saying they were duped into engaging in an illegal industrial action.

Addressing the press in Eldoret town on Friday, Bii said the nurses should allow newly elected governors and the national government to address their issues.

He said the Nurses Union Secretary general Seth Panyako only wanted to use the strike for political gain.

"Nurses are not supposed to be on strike as they were duped and used for political gain by Panyako who failed miserably in his bid to be Kakamega Senator," Bii said.

"As their national chairman I want to tell those nurses still on strike to go back to work and allow governors and the Jubilee government to put their house in order and be able to handle their issues," he added.

Bii who has been at loggerheads with Panyako over the strike that begun on June 5th insisted that the only way nurses issues can be addressed is if they go back to work.

"You cannot be on strike and be at a negotiating table at the same time. A collective bargaining agreement (CBA) can only be done on a negotiating table," he said.
