The Governor says it's big fishes that continue to loot taxpayers' money.

Speaking in Machakos town on Thursday, the Maendeleo Chap Chap party leader said the fight against corruption will not succeed if big fishes are not arrested, prosecuted and jailed.

Mutua said everyone knows that top leaders in government are the ones stealing and looting taxpayers’ coffers.

“The DPP Mr. Haji should hunt down the big fish and put an end to the looting of public money and resources,” Mutua said.

He addressed the press outside a Machakos hotel.

Mutua said the development will not be achieved if looters are allowed to continue looting Kenyans taxes.

He, however, lauded the DPP's swift action against individuals linked to the alleged Sh9 billion National Youth Service (NYS) scandal.

The governor said the new DPP has shown the commitment to fight corruption and should be supported.

On the same note, Mutua proposed for a lifestyle audit to be done on all top government officials.

He said the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) and other investigative agencies should audit Cabinet Secretaries, Governors, Principal Secretaries and directors and managers of state agencies.

He also called for the freezing of bank accounts and seizing of the property of individuals named and linked to corruption scandals.
