Continued rise in cancer prevalence across the county claiming lives of many people and draining families economically has been blamed on poor routine checks by members of the public to control it at initial stages.
Speaking in Subukia during the burial of Ibrahim Kinyanjui Gachobe, the brother of Subukia MP Samwel Gachobe, Nakuru Governor Lee Kinyanjui said the statistics of cancer related cases is worrying.
He called on the national government to consider the county while sourcing for expert doctors from outside the country to handle the cancer cases.
"The number of cancer deaths in the county is on the rise, we will launch an oncology clinic at the Nakuru county referral hospital to address some of these issues," he said.
Gov. Kinyanjui further implored on the members of the public to take the first steps and have routine testing in order to help in treating some of the conditions before it progresses to chronic stages.
