Women have been challenged to go for elective positions rather than depending on nominated seats.
Addressing Wiper party delegates on Monday at St Vincent in Kisii County, Makueni Women Representative Rose Museo challenged the women to go for elective positions since they have a potential of leading the country without being nominated.
Museo said that time has come when women need not bank their hopes on being nominated by political parties and go for elective positions.
“Since the new constitution gives women an equal opportunity to elective seats and they have proven to do well in leadership positions hence they should go for more seats in the coming general election,” said Museo.
“No woman needs to wait to be nominated so that she gets to parliament. I am encouraging them to fight for those positions and courageously face men vying for the seats since we as the elected women have shown them that they can as well as perform,” she added
She also said that the only Cord presidential candidate who will send Jubilee home is none than Kalonzo Musyoka.
“Kalonzo is fit to be President and he can steer the country to prosperity more so he will fight corruption,” she added.
Museo accused the Jubilee administration of failing to address challenges facing Kenyans more so in fulfilling its pledges.
