Nairobi Governor Evans Kidero has told opposition leaders and aspirants to go out and mobilize supporters to register as voters.
Kidero said the only way to ensure an opposition win in August is by compelling supporters to register as voters.
He spoke in Kasarani when he hosted ODM party leader Raila Odinga at Nyayo National Stadium during a meeting for Nairobi ODM party aspirants.
"Voting is the expression of our commitment to ourselves, one another and this country," he said.
"Our message to all the aspirants in Nairobi, go out and mobilize your people to register as voters."
The IEBC on Monday launched the Mass Voter Registration exercise and is expected to run for one month until February 16.
Raila is expected to take on President Uhuru Kenyatta during the August general elections.
