Nyamira Governor John Nyagarama has told members of Parliament eyeing the county gubernatorial seat to go slow and instead focus on developing their constituencies first before thinking of 2017.
According to Nyagarama, there is no need for MPs to announce their candidatures for the county top seat now when they should be focusing on their responsibilities of serving their electorate that voted them to Parliament.
Addressing residents in Nyamira town on Thursday, Nyagarama instead advised the politicians to spearhead development in their constituencies instead of politicking.
“In 2017, we shall be there on the ground no one is afraid, but why can’t the MPs focus on their responsibilities first? I am asking those MPs in this county to foster development first before announcing their candidature for various seats in 2017 ,” said Nyagarama
“If you win, I will concead defeat and go home but if you start campaigning now, who will fulfill your parliamentary responsibilities now?” posed Nyagarama.
Several aspirants have announced their candidature for the top seat and West Mugirango MP James Gesami is the latest MP who has set his eyes on the Nyamira gubernatorial seat come 2017.
