...and no, God did NOT vote in the American election either.
He needs not do so. This comes from a post appearing on Facebook by one man claiming that God voted and that is why Trump won. Depending on the side he is leaning on, and in the heat of things while still smarting from their favourite candidate's win, it is possible excitement took the best of them and had to scream from the mountain tops.
There is no other election in America in recent years that has polarised the country as much as the Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton one.
Obama's was child's play in comparison. And, it is 2016!
Many people feel, Americans mostly, that their country has taken several steps backwards. But all is not lost.
The same madness exhibited in voting for Trump was expressed in Kenya in 2013. We are still finding our way out of the quagmire.
Against all caution, Kenyans voted for two people indicted for the 2007/08 election violence and the world was aghast!
How could they? Are they nuts?
But, they are Africans and Africans rarely see beyond their noses. I know this must have been said over and over especially in the West where the interests were threatened by an Uhuru/Ruto win.
All the same, we voted despite being warned of consequences. The story after the elections needs no retelling. America was the greatest enemy then…
The coin is flipped and despite there being no warnings before the American elections from Africa (which is not a country in case you’re not African), already there is a chorus against why Hillary should have occupied White House come January 20.
Trump’s win surprised me too.
However, to not digress further, probably the only warning on the American election came from Russia and other ‘developed’ countries (like we live on trees).
And so, the argument by some section of Christians saying that God voted is far from the truth. God needs no earthly dominion- all things were created in Him and for Him so He has sway whether He votes or not. The NOT wins in this case.
Humans have free will to choose what they will and in the US of A, they made a decision which was overridden by the Electoral College. Trump was quite literally ‘legally rigged’ into office.
This is not the first case as it happened to the climate change activist Al Gore in 2000. He could not defeat George W. Bush then due to the same fact that made Hillary win the people but not the college.
Hillary won by 59,926,386 which was 47.7% of the votes. Trump was trailing by 227,880 votes.
None of the candidates managed the 50+1 like would be a requirement in Kenya. We would be going for a runoff in a few months if that election was ours.
Since it wasn’t and to try and debunk the myth that God voted, Romans 13 asks that we respect all authority as it comes from God.
Trump happens to be the 45th ‘king’ for the Americans just like the Israelites got when they demanded one in 1 Samuel 8:1-22. Many others came after that.
To say that God voted and won is a fallacy.
Does it mean He did/does not vote in other countries where there is no peace or does He just get a kick from seeing some part of the world suffer while others wine and dine and make merry?
All the suffering in the world is due to the fallen human nature.
Free will has been abused and since everyone wants to be first, right and in control, conflict is what we get.
The world has become a jungle and it is now survival of the fittest.
No wonder we celebrate looters not noticing that those celebrating have nothing in the first place.
As they cheer lunacy on, they end up being run over by the money train in terms of debts imposed on them and which are paid at a premium for generations.
Trump's VP, Mike Pence, sounds like a grounded man and he may just help steer the boat to shore.
Probably Trump’s election was the storm before the calm. Like Jesus walking on water, the disciples thought He was a ghost but on letting him come on board, the storm was calmed and “immediately the boat reached the shore where they were heading.”
Maybe America just needs to let Jesus on board and they will be on shore… (John 6).
