The US Ambassador to Kenya Robert Godec, has reiterated calls for dialogue in the country.
He said the current political temperatures were worrying and dangerous to Kenya's unity, hence the need for an amicable solution for Kenya to prosper.
Speaking in Mombasa, Godec noted that Kenyans should be ready to fight for democracy with their leaders being in the frontline.
According to the envoy, democracy is at risk in many countries but Kenya should not be among countries that kill democracy and respect to constitutional institutions.
The envoy was in Mombasa on Tuesday, where he alongside Deputy Governor Dr William Kingi, assessed several projects that have been supported by the US government within the county.
His sentiments come even as opposition's NASA coalition want the US government to recall him over allegations that he is killing democracy and supporting President Uhuru Kenyatta's 'illegitimate' government.
Godec had asked NASA leader Raila Odinga, and the entire coalition to recognise Kenyatta as legitimate president, a move that angered Odinga, and sparked protests to US Embassy Offices in Nairobi early in the month.
He however dismissed the allegations saying it was attempt by both political parties to pull him towards them for US government's support.
