US Ambassador to Kenya Bob Godec will be the heighest ranking dignitary from the United States during President Uhuru Kenyatta's swearing-in ceremony on Tuesday.
Godec will represent US President Donald Trump who will not be gracing the occasion.
According to the Daily Nation, the State Department confirmed to the media that Godec will be leading the US delegation as Uhuru takes oath of office for his second term.
“Ambassador Godec will be the highest-ranking US government representative at the inauguration, but will not be the only USG [US government] representative present," the statement said.
According to the event's organizers, at least 100,000 guests including Heads of State and other dignitaries will be attending the function at Moi Sports Center, Kasarani.
Uhuru will be sworn in alongside his Deputy William Ruto after the Supreme Court upheld their reelection victory on Monday last week.
