US Ambassador to Kenya Robert Godec has said that the country's democracy is still fragile and people should defend it.Speaking on Friday night while addressing Generation Kenya youths, Godec stated that it is the responsibility of everybody especially the youth to protect Kenya's democratic gains.
"It’s important now that everyone works to support and defend Kenya’s democracy and fundamental rights. While you work to build a more prosperous future for yourselves, your families and your communities, I urge you to work hard to preserve the rights and freedoms of all Kenyans as well," said Godec.

"[This] freedom [should not be] based on ethnicity or family connections but on your efforts and talents. Democracy and rights are also fragile," said Godec.
In the recent days, Godec has come under sharp attack from opposition leader Raila Odinga over allegations of meddling in Kenya's internal affairs, a claim Godec refuted.
