A girl living with albinism has emerged top in this year's KCPE exams according to the results released by the Ministry of Education.

Her name is Goldalyn Kakuya of St Anne Juniour Lubao in Kakamega.

Her trajectory to the top was not by any means a gilded one; she had to battle poor health as she pursued her primary education, her teachers revealed, a revelation which makes her accomplishment all the more remarkable.

Kakuya was a glamorous sight to behold when she spoke to the media in the wake of the revelation that she had shone brightest.

''My dream is to become a neurosurgeon when I grow up.'' A grinning Kakuya told journalists.

The hard-working pupil has always been at the top of her class and it was not surprising that she did extremely well in her national exams.
