The Office of the Director of Public Prosecution has started the process of decongesting prisons in the country in earnest.About 2600 cases in several correctional facilities are being reviewed.Dorcas Oduor, the public prosecutions secretary, said that the issue of overcrowding in prisons was a serious one and needed an urgent solution.''This is an issue that needs an urgent solution and we have swung into action to have it addressed,'' she said.Ms. Oduor was speaking yesterday in Nairobi at the Industrial Area Prison.A report by the International Red Cross said that overcrowding was a commonplace problem in a number of countries, a problem that called for action.
