Machakos County small and medium entrepreneurs will pay not more than Sh50 as revenue that is collected by the County's revenue collectors.
This order was given by the County Governor Dr Alfred Mutua as he made an impromptu visit to the Machakos market to inspect how much tax collectors demand from the business persons.
"There has been a public outcry that Machakos County tax collectors have been charging more money compared to other markets within Machakos County. This got my attention and now I have ordered the collectors not to charge more than Sh50 revenue from the small and medium entrepreneurs," said Mutua.
Mutua said that he is working on a project of opening a new and larger market 'marikiti' that will serve both small and medium entrepreneurs and other big businesses.
He further stressed on the importance of paying tax saying that he will help residents change their lives and fighting for their rights anytime they are violated.
The order that Mutua gave is effective from next week on Monday where the small and medium entrepreneurs will not be charged more than Sh50 and will also be issued with receipts after every transaction.
