The Kenya National Highways Authority has started the construction of footbridges along the Thika Super Highway.
The move is expected to reduce fatalities along the busy highway.
KNHA is constructing the first footbridge at Witeithie.
The construction of the bridge is being undertaken by Interways Works Limited.
Three more bridges are expected to be erected along the highway in a project expected to be completed by December.
The completion of the bridge construction will lead to removal of the safety humps which have been installed in the four locations to ensure safety for pedestrians.
The installation of the footbridges is expected to speed up the traffic flow along the superhighway as well as enhance safety.
