Kesses Member of Parliament Dr. Swarup Mishra is set to roll out a Youth Training Programme that will see youths in villages sponsored to pursue skilled and technical courses.
Under the program, Mishra says beneficiaries will undergo their training at the Rift Valley Technical Training Institute (RVTTI) and Eldoret National Polytechnic.
“I will sponsor 400 students to pursue technical courses at RVTTI and Eldoret Polytechnic with each institution getting 200 students. The objective of this programme is to increase access to youth-targeted temporary employment programs and to improve youth employability,” said the Kesses legislator in Eldoret town, Friday.
“The publicity for this programme is currently being done by ward coordinators at the grassroots level. The target group of the component is the unemployed youth in the 18-35 age brackets. The mode of distribution will be made at the glare of public that is will be free and fair,” he added.
Among the courses that will be covered in the programme include tailoring, carpentry, masonry, and plumbing among others. Youths from the humble background will also be given the first priority.
According to Mishra, training youths will help in reducing the vulnerability of unemployed young women and men by expanding and enhancing the effectiveness of youth empowerment program.
The MP who is serving his first term in office further said he will sponsor 200 youths, 50 in each of the four wards in Kesses constituency to driving schools.
