According to Mark Lisboa, StarTimes vice president for marketing, the satellite super package will now be charged Sh1, 499 per month as opposed to the earlier Sh2, 499. This is a 40 per cent price cut.

What is more is that subscribers of terrestrial (unique) package will be charged Sh1,499, a 29 per cent fall from Sh2,099, as reported by the Business Daily.

“This is a significant development that will see Kenyans enjoy a uniform monthly subscription fee for our top bouquets at just Sh1, 499 which is driven by our goal to see more Kenyan households access, afford and enjoy premium digital television services,” Mr Lisboa said.

This latest development in price cuts comes just days after Bamba TV general manager, Dan Muchira, pointed out that 13 additional sites were slated to be rolled out by December 2016.

In a series of tweets, Muchira noted that the company hopes to cover at least 95 per cent of households in Kenya by the end of the year with programmes that entertain with extremely innovative content

All these revelations come in the backdrop of the entry of American-based streaming service Netflix, a player in the pay TV service industry.
