The maiden flight on the new route will take off from Nairobi’s Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) on February 14 using one of their Bombardier Dash 8 Q400 NextGen aircraft.

The airline, now almost four years in operation in the country, is targeting the growing domestic travel market comprising of traders, investors, civil servants, and employees of local and international Aid Agencies to consolidate its position in Kenya’s foremost low cost airline market.

JamboJet’s fares from Nairobi to Wajir will start from Sh5,200, inclusive of taxes thus making travel to the county more affordable and convenient.

The flights will depart Nairobi on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays at 6:10 a.m. and depart from Wajir at 7:45 a.m.

On Wednesdays and Fridays, the airline will operate afternoon flights only, with departures from Nairobi at 15:30 p.m. and leave Wajir at 17:05 p.m. back to JKIA.

Commenting on the launch of the new route on phone from Nairobi on Tuesday, JamboJet Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Willem Hondius said that the announcement is yet another proud moment for Jambojet and another milestone in the firm’s four-year-old narrative.

“We are delighted to finally bring affordable travel to Wajir and are confident that our product will appeal greatly to the government, business and leisure travelers alike,” said Mr. Hondius.

The CEO further noted that fleet expansion had enabled them to expand their scheduled operations as well as grow the number of destinations they fly to.

According to Hondius, the company is expecting an additional Bombardier Dash 8 Q400NextGen aircraft in mid-February this year.

“We operate on all major local routes countrywide and we recently increased the number of routes from four to six, increased frequency of flights and flown over two million passengers,” confirmed the CEO.

“Currently, we fly to Nairobi, Mombasa, Kisumu, Eldoret, Malindi and Ukunda,” he said.
