Kisii county governor James Ongwae has warned their opponents from fielding goons and hooligans while holding their peaceful campaigns.
The governor said he is aware that of the existence of these criminal gangs whose services some local politicians wanted to enlist during the campaigns.
He called upon the local security agencies to ensure that they weed out those hooligans who are looking to bring trouble in peaceful campaigns.
“All we want is peace and I call upon our opponents to ensure that they don’t field hooligans while we are carrying peaceful campaigns” he added
Speaking at a prayer rally for Professor Sam Ongeri at his home in Gesusu before he presented his ODM Senatorial nomination papers at the Kisii county IEBC office
Accompanied by his deputy governor Joash Maangi , Ongwae said that said he has been assured by security agencies that when the electioneering campaigns kicks off, the area will be under extra vigilance to ensure peace prevailed during and after the August 8 general elections.
Ongwae is set to represent his nomination papers on second at IEBC offices Kisii county.
