Gor Mahia defender Mike Simiyu is set to join Mathare United.

Simiyu is already training with the Slum Boys as he expects to be handed a contract before the transfer window closes.

He has been at Gor Mahia books as a left back but he got his release after the club landed the signature of Wesley Onguso from Sofapaka. 

"Simiyu has been training with us for some time now but we are yet to decide whether or not he will be part of the team. We need strengthening in certain areas and we will have to be quick since this year the pre-season period is a short one," Mathare confirmed.

The defender has previously featured for Western Stima, SoNy Sugar, Bandari and Muhoroni Youth.
