Mathare United proved the comeback kings after they defeated Gor Mahia in Thika in a thrilling match played on te weekend.
The loss slashed to twelve points the lead Gor had over Sofapaka after they won their match with Bandari over the weekend.
Gor Mahia have a chance to widen their gap on Sofapaka in the match against Kariobangi Sharks that will be held tomorrow.
The win has seen Sofapaka edge closer with 48 points against their rivals Gor Mahia 60 points. At 45 points Kakamega Homeboyz F.C. are third having suffered 2-1 loss at home ground to NakumattF.C.
Wycliffe Opondo took the lead in the 37th minute putting through to Ali Ahmed on the right wing giving Homeboyz the lead.Kepha Aswani,capitalized on a defensive lapse and leveled the score for Nakumatt F.C. 22 minutes later beating the goal keeper David Juma.
Aswani entered the ‘Golden Boot’ race being the club’s top scorer for his 12th strike of the season.
Outgoing Champions, Ulinzi Stars came in fourth after snapping a two match winless in Ruaraka against Zoo Kericho F.C with 43 points.
