The congested fixture for Kenya Premier League Champions Gor Mahia is taking a toll on them.
The club’s tactician Dylan Kerr has launched an attack at the country’s governing body, saying they are not protecting the club, saying the fixture is punitive in the way they have been scheduled.
He was speaking to the media on Thursday, a day after his team was held to a frustrating draw by former champions Tusker FC, in a match that was played on Wednesday at the Machakos Kenyatta Stadium.
“I would have liked to play the same team that started on Saturday but I can’t because I have to think about fatigue, injury and I have to find the best solution against Esperance, and we have to play well in the KPL league as well because our fans deserve that,” said Kerr.
“So it messes me, messes my chairman, but we should not play these four games before we play Esperance, the coach gets the blame always,”
He further took issue with the managing body, saying they should be in a position to ensure local matches are fixed well.
“It is not even in March yet, and we have like months to play this match. Come on, think about it, use your brains!”
The team has played three matches in a span of one week, with Wednesday’s match coming a few days after the team returned from a continental assignment.
Gor will again face Bandari on Saturday, before welcoming Esperance De Tunisia in another continental tie.
