Outgoing Gor Mahia captain Musa Mohammed.[Photo/the-star.co.ke]With the imminent departure of veteran Gor Mahia defender Musa Mohammed drawing closer, the race for the club's skipper position has heated up with foreigners likely to land the coveted position.Mohammed who has captained K'ogallo for the past one year has been linked with a move to Albanian outfit KF Tirana leaving head coach Dylan Kerr with the uphil task of picking his new team leader. However among the favourites to land the position are Rwandese striker Jacques Tuyisenge whose goal poaching instincts have endeared closer to the K'ogallo fan base and the technical bench as well as combative Ugandan defender Godfrey Walusimbi who is one of the longest serving members of the reigning champions. The duo deputized Musa as the first and second vice captains respectively in the 2017 season.Unlike in other teams where the exercise of choosing a captain solely lies with the players,Kerr is likely to have the final say in deciding who the next skipper will be and he says he's equal to the task."The captaincy is an integral part of the team and it is wise that we get it right. It is a a decision I will make personally and will announce in due course. We are not short of leaders in the team and I believe the person who will be picked to lead the team will do a good job," Kerr said on Tuesday.Apart from defending their league title,Gor will also be representing the country in the continental Confederation of Africa Football (Caf) championships that kicks off in February.
