The match, played at Bukhungu Stadium on Wednesday, saw Gor going a goal down in the 32nd minute through Ali Bhai's wonder goal.

Homeboyz's lead lasted for only ten minutes, with Ivorian Ephraim Guikan scoring the equaliser after he received a fine cross from Sammy Onyango.

In the second half, both teams were on a high, with the reigning KPL champions first to score, Guikan adding the second in the 55th minute to complete his brace.

Kakamega Homeboyz's fighting spirit yielded fruits after former AFC Leopards striker Allan Wanga scored the equalising goal on the 65th minute.

Meddie Kagere almost gave Gor the lead, forcing Homeboyz's keeper David Juma to come off his line and spectacularly save in the 72nd minute.

With ten minutes to go, K'oglo got the winning goal to deny the hosts all three points, with the match ending 3-2 in favour of the champions.

The win over Kakamega saw Gor extend their lead to 30 points after 12 matches, and still have two matches at hand over second-placed Ulinzi Stars. Meanwhile, Kakamega Homeboys are 12th on the log after 14 matches on 17 points.

The crucial away win is also the first for Gor Mahia after being winless in four consecutive matches. Before this match, Gor had registered four draws against Mathare United and Chemelil Sugar in the league and against AFC Leopards in Hull City Challenge.

Gor will next play Hull City on Sunday, before hosting USM Alger from Algeria on 16th of this month at Kenyatta Stadium in Machakos County.
