Gor Mahia midfielder Ernest Wendo has revealed the secret behind his superb performance in the ongoing Super Cup tournament in Nakuru.
Wendo was voted the man of the match after helping Gor Mahia win their semi-final tie, beating Singida 2-0, which inched them closer to defending their title that they won last year in Tanzania.
He credits his form to the kind of quality his teammates possess.
"The secret behind my performance and the good progress is that we have a good team – the players are good, technical bench and fan base that do push us in training and games… l can’t forget my family and friends who always encourage me," he said while speaking to the club's website.
"All in all, I thank God for everything without because without him, l am nothing," Wendo added.
Yakubu Aiyegbeni, Everton's legend led the process of picking the man of the match award winner.
“Surely, it’s a nice feeling getting the man of the match award. I never saw it coming… l was surprised not because it’s impossible but because I was chosen by the Everton coaches and legend Yakubu,” Wendo added.
Gor will play Simba in the finals on Sunday.
