Gor Mahia opened a nine-point gap at the top of the Kenyan Premier League (KPL) log after a 2 – 0 win over Ulinzi Stars at Afraha Stadium on Saturday 23rd June, attracting much praise from their head coach, Dylan Kerr.
Francis Kahata and Jacques Tuyisenge scored the goals for Gor Mahia but it was not entirely comfortable for the champions, who are chasing their 7th league title and Kerr admits sharpness among his forwards is what worked for them.
He also had praise for Ulinzi Stars, who hit the bar through skipper Mohamed Hassan and at some point forced Philemon Otieno to a goal-line clearance.
“We started a bit slow but we recovered well in the match, credit to my players especially the forwards who once again had the killer instinct with the chances we created. Ulinzi Stars also deserve credit for their performance,"
“We knew they would be hard to beat and that came to be; they had two good chances – one hitting the bar and another cleared off the goal line. We move to nine points clear but we will not rest just yet,” he said.
