Gor Mahia rallied from 2-1 down in the second half to win a seven-goal thriller 5-2 against struggling Thika United on Sunday.
The win saw Gor move to 25 points, two ahead of second-placed Mathare United who were humbled 1-0 by Wazito on Saturday.
Eugene Mukangala slammed home the opener on four minutes for the visitors after Shaaban Odhoji Gor’s second goalkeeper failed to keep the shot away.
Ephraim Guikan then pulled a goal back for Gor after a cheeky through pass from Tuyisenge to make the score level at halftime.
It got worse for the host as Thika United slotted in the second from a Mata freekick seven minutes into the second half. The lead only lasted three minutes after Thika United keeper Owiny failed to clear the ball after a Tuyisenge shot made it 2-2.
Gor put the score beyond reach when Innocent Wafula chipped the ball past Owiny to make it 3-2 in the 74th minute. Meddie Kagere, who came off the bench made it four after a sublime finish to secure the three points.
All was not finished as Francis Kahata later chipped in a fifth with a few minutes to play before the end of the game. The win was Gor Mahias fifth in a row in the league.
