Gor Mahia is considering playing their CAF home matches at Bukhungu stadium.
This has been occasioned due to unavailability of Nyayo and Kasarani stadia which are currently undergoing renovations.
In Kenya, there are four stadia that are accredited by the Confederation of African Football (CAF). They include Kasarani, Nyayo, Machakos and Bukhungu in Kakamega.
In 2014, Governor Alfred Mutua banned Gor Mahia from playing matches at Kenyatta Stadium in Machakos after chaos marred one of their games against Sofapaka.
Moi stadium in Kisumu was ruled out of international matches since the stadium does not have changing rooms which is a necessity.
This forced teams to make makeshift changing tents during CECAFA semi finals match in December.
Gor Mahia has now been left with Bukhungu stadium as their only option owing to uncertainties of lifting the ban on Machakos stadium.
“We are weighing up the options that we have, which are only two anyway and we will have a meeting soon to discuss. I am thinking that Bukhungu will be a good option for us but let’s wait and see what comes out of the meeting,” Gor Mahia Chief Executive Officer Lordvick Aduda said speaking to Capital Sport.
Bukhungu stadium has recently been renovated by the Kakamega county government to befit international standards.
