[Photo|Dr Alfred Mutua]Machakos Governor Dr Alfred Mutua has lifted the ban that had been imposed against Gor Mahia Football Club three years ago, 2014. The ban was as a result of hooliganism by some errant fans after a match at Machakos stadium.After a lengthy meeting that included sharing of lunch, I was convinced by the Gor Mahia FC management led by the team’s Chairman and renown lawyer Ambrose Rachier, The CEO Lordvic Aduda and the Treasurer Sally Bolo that measures have been taken to address soccer hooliganism.They were supported by their arch rival AFC Leopard’s chairman Dan Mule. Sports CeC Faith Wathome also attended the meeting on Monday."We have agreed that Gor Mahia FC can now play its Premier League matches in Machakos and use our stadium as their home stadium. Their first game will be an international game against Equatorial Guinea on February 10, this year," said Mutua.As a token of goodwill and to be able to compensate the county for the destruction that occurred in 2014, the club offered the Machakos County Government Sh1 million through an agreed formula."I welcome Gor Mahia Football Team and it’s vibrant supporters to Machakos as we use sports to bring out the best in all of us and to create friendships and peace in our great country of Kenya," added Mutua.
