The much anticipated international friendly match between Kenya Premier League (KPL) Champions Gor Mahia and Sudanese giants Al Hilal FC has been canceled at the last minute.
The match was to be played today at the Kenyatta Stadium in Machakos starting 3 pm. However, no reason has been given for cancellation of the much.
“The friendly match (Gor Mahia v Al Hilal of Sudan) which was to be played in Machakos has been canceled,” posted the Club on the official facebook page - GOR Mahia FC.
The two teams were to use the match to prepare for continental assignments coming up this weekend.Gor Mahia will face Leones Vegetarianos of Equatorial Guinea in the first leg of the tournament preliminary round.
The match will be played on Saturday at the Machakos Stadium starting 3 PM. Gate charges for the match will be Sh. 500 for the Very Important Persons (VIP) section while the charges for the terraces famously known as Russia section will be Sh. 200.
Gor Mahia got a spot in this year’s edition of the CAF Champions League tournament after winning the KPL title for a record 16th time at the end of last year.
The team kick-started the 2018 KPL campaign with a resounding 4-0 win over Nakumatt FC on Saturday.
