Kenya Premier League side Gor Mahia on Thursday held a meeting with betting firm SportPesa.This is after SportPesa withdrew sponsorship for the club.

Gor Mahia chairman Ambrose Rachier said that the meeting was meant to convince SportPesa not to withdraw their sponsorship.

Rachier anchored his request on what’s at hand and the huge assignments the club is having.

“I have today held a meeting with SportPesa to plead with them not to withdraw their sponsorship at least to Gor Mahia, having regard to the forthcoming CAF Champions League campaign in February as well as the league duties,” stated a press release was released to the club’s website.

Rachier said the chairman cited the importance of season’s preparations to the sponsors and the need to pay players and staff.

“I cited the importance of pre-season training and the need to pay salaries for December 2017 to the players and staff as well as to pay sign-on fees for new players,” he added.

Rachier assured all stakeholders to be patient as their request was received well and the outcome will be known soonest.
