[Photo|Busia County Government]Sport Pesa Premier League Champions Gor Mahia consolidated their league to 73 points after beating Kakamega Homeboyz 1-0 at the Mumias Sports Complex on Saturday.Gor Mahia scored the lone goal after 43 minutes through Rwandese International Jacques Tuyisenge who made no mistake with a close range shot off a George "Blckberry" Odhiambo cross.The goal came 10 minutes after Homeboyz striker Wycliffe Ochomo was sent off by referee Samuel Mwaura following a harsh tackle on Aaron Shakava. Ochomo had earlier been cautioned for dissent.Homeboyz should have taken a deserved lead in the 18th minute when Gor Mahia third keeper Shabaan Odoji saved Ochomo's shot. The penalty was awarded after Odoji fouled Ochomo inside the box.It was the fourth encounter between the two teams since Homeboyz made a dream entry into top flight football in 2016. Gor beat Homeboyz 3-0 in the first leg with the two teams drawing 1-1 in the return leg.In the first leg this season Gor edged Homeboyz 1-0 with Meddie Kagere netting the lone goal.The Kakamega side had hoped to avenge the defeat but failed in their own backyard.Homeboyz who were placed fifth in the league standing with 49 points had hoped to win their two remaining matches to finish in second position. They have one match away to Chemelil on Saturday with Gor hosting Sony Sugar in the season ender.The match was watched by Kakamega Senator Cleophas Malala, Busia County Youth League chairman James Anyango, former FKF NEC Member Western Elly Mukolwe, former FKF Western branch chairman Andrew Amukowa and Bukhungu Stadium Manager Titus Otiende.
