New Gor Mahia coach Dylan Kerr was welcomed with a rude shock into the Kenyan football as Kogalo were bundled out of the GOtv Shiend Cup by Mombasa side Bandari FC.
Gor Mahia were beaten 6-5 by the dockers on post match penalties in a match played at the Thika County Stadium on Sunday.
The teams went to the full time tied 1-1.
Tanzanian import Cosmas Lewis gave Bandari the lead in the 58th minute before Kogalo's new signing Boniface Omondi replied in the 75th minute.
“It is not the type of results I expected ahead of Tanzania trip moreso after dominating the game. But that’s the nature of football. Penalties are like a lottery,” coach Kerr said.
On the same day, defending champions Tusker FC edged out Kisumu's Palos FC in Meru to advance to the next round courtesy of Jackson Macharia’s first half goal.
League returnees Nzoia Sugar put back their poor run to beat hosts Coast Stima 6-5 on post match penalties after a scoreless draw in regular time.
