Social-political Activist Boniface Mwangi on Monday criticized the government for over-reacting following the swearing in of Raila Odinga's ‘The People’s President’.
Mwangi said Raila was sworn into a non-existent post and he went home making it nothing to worry about.According to him, immediately after Raila took the oath, it could have been the end of a story but the government over-reacted by making many NASA team arrests which he termed unnecessarily.“Legitimacy can't be acquired through fear. All these arrests are unnecessary. Raila Odinga was sworn into a non-existent post — and he went home. That would have been the end of story, but the government over-reacted,” said Mwangi on his Twitter account.Raila took an oath as ‘The People’s President’ on 30th January but after the event, several NASA leaders including MP TJ Kajwang’ and George Aladwa were arrested and detained for facilitating the oath ceremony before being freed later.Canadian-based Solicitor Miguna Miguna was also kept in custody for five days before being deported to Canada for his role in the swearing-in of Raila.
