Mudavadi observed that TJRC report had clear ways of addressing historical injustices as well as dealing with victims of the post-election violence.

“The government has refused to forward the report to Parliament for debate so as to allow allocation of resources to compensate victims of historical injustices,” he said.

TJRC was established by an Act of Parliament to investigate the gross human rights violations and other historical injustices in Kenya between 12 December 1963 and 28 February 2008.

In its recommendations, the Amb Bethuel Kiplagat Commission said the government should address the issue of equality in the country.

The Commission also said that anyone involved in killing of innocent Kenyans should not be allowed to hold public office.

Mudavadi at the same time criticised the thanks giving service that was held at the Afraha Stadium on Saturday by Jubilee leader, saying it was a misplaced priority.

He called on the church to take centre stage in reconciling the country.

He condemned the back and forth arguments between Cord and Jubilee leaders concerning termination of the case against Deputy President William Ruto and former radio broadcaster Joshua Sang.

He warned that the war of words was bad for the country.

Mudavadi was addressing members of the friends’ church in Mumias.
