The National government has been accused undermining devolved units by engaging in malicious campaigns.

According to the Council of Governors, the government has put in place mechanism that are not functioning in regards to promoting devolution.

CoG finance chair and Kakamega governor Wycliffe Oparanya has defended the county bosses against allegations of failing to absorb monetary allocations.

According to Oparanya, failure of the Integrated Financial Management System is to blame for the failure to absorb money allocated to the counties.

"The publication in national dailies that the county governments have failed to meet their financial management obligations is both inaccurate and in bad faith," said Oparanya.

On Tuesday, the government accused counties of failing to use money allocated to them.
