Addressing residents at Athi River shopping center on Saturday, the MCA said that corruption is a threat to development, adding that if not addressed, many development projects being commissioned by the government will stall.

“The government must speak tough on corruption and take action against perpetrators,” he said.

Mutua further asked government officials who have been named and implicated in corruption scandals to step aside, so as not to interfere with ongoing investigations.

Mutua noted that the rising corruption is tainting the image of the country to the rest of the world, an images he said has been built over a long time and Kenyans deserve better than what is currently witnessed.

Meanwhile, the MCA wants the Machakos government to focus on providing services to the people.

He said that the government has a responsibility to provide services to the people, and initiate development projects for their benefit.
