Machakos town MP Victor Munyaka wants the government to deal firmly with perpetrators of hate speech.
Addressing journalist at his office in Machakos on Friday, Munyaka observed that the trend on hate speech is worrying.
He said that some leaders are contravening the law and are keen to divide the people through hate messages.
The MP asked the National Cohesion and Integration (NCIC) to crack the whip on leaders and individuals inciting the public.
“NCIC should exercise its mandate fully and deal with hate mongers who want to cause disunity among Kenyans,” he said.
The Machakos MP said that the country would be plugged into chaos if hate mongers are not dealt with.
He added that the government must deal with hate mongers despite their political positions or ranks.
“The government should get seriously and deal with hate mongers,” said the MP.
Munyaka asked leaders to be considerate on what they say and write in the media.
He stated that Kenya does not belong to individuals and every citizen is bound to obey the law.
Meanwhile, the MP wants leaders in the region to shelve their political differences and work together.
The lawmaker said that leaders from the region must put aside their political pride and support each other for realization of development.
